Giving HOPE, Showing LOVE and Sharing WARMTH ~ SAL WARM WINTER PORJECT

Testimonies, tears of joy, appreciation, support, and most important LOVE.  Those are some words to describe last Saturday Dec 18th as SAL handed out blankets, coats, hats, scarves, gloves, and toiletries to the homeless at Tabernacle Church; who also provided a hot meal as well.  We were touched by the testimonies from the men and women we helped that day.  One woman was healed and delivered from drugs, while another was in a shelter for abused women in hopes to move on from a battered relationship.   She was very guarded at first, but began to open up once she realized we were not only there to help but to listen and support her in any way possible.  One man received a coat and took off his own coat to donate back to us.   He could’ve kept both, knowing he was homeless but he was generous to give back in return and bless someone else.  In doing so he showed the true meaning of what we were trying to accomplish, its being better to give then to receive.  Throughout the day we all witnessed acts of kindness from those volunteering, to the people we helped.  There were tears of joy and goose bumps as we all witness the compassion and love working through each one of us.  By the end of the day we ended up exceeding our goal of 200 blankets, coats, hats, scarves, and gloves,  and were able to drop items off at the Seattle Union Gospel Mission: Hope Place.  We thank everyone that volunteered their time as well as those that were able to donate and drop off items.  Warm Winter Project could not have been a success with out your kind generosity.

Meet Bones! An amazing man, he was so grateful!

A perfect match: Couple connected by shared kidney

It's not yet Christmas, but one deserving person has already received the gift of a lifetime.

"Oh, I was so happy, I wanted to cry, but I mean, it was just another doctor's appointment," said Shyreka Wallace, 30, describing how she felt when her fiance offered to get tested as a possible kidney donor over the summer.

Wallace suffers from lupus, a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood and kidneys.

Like 40 percent of lupus patients, Wallace developed serious kidney complications after being diagnosed with the disease in 1999 and has needed dialysis three times each week for the past five years.

When her fiance of two years, Erik Worthington, 24, offered to get tested, Wallace knew it was more romantic than realistic.

"It's, like, one in a million for your fiance or your boyfriend to be a match," she said. "More likely, it's your mom or your dad."

RESULTS FOR SAL WARM WINTER PROJECT~ WE LOVE GIVING BACK!!!

We exceeded our goal of 200 blankets, coats, hats, gloves, scarves etc. to give the homeless a warm winter this holiday season.  Not only that but we were able to minister to people who shared their stories of being clean and sober.
We heard nonstop stories of people living drug and alcohol free lives because of events like today. Sometimes, all people want and need is a helping hand. And because of supporters like you with a servants heart.........SAL was able to provide exactly that for hundreds of people!!!
*Kyllan Tower, who came to volunteer literally took the coat off his back and gave it away when we got low, and only three minutes later a man walked up and that coat was a perfect fit.   *Anthony Tibbs blessed us in so many ways, out the goodness of his heart he went and bought 6 bags of coats when he saw we were low on jackets.  *Danielle Rhomes an amazing friend and sister who put in more hours then some do in a 8 hour shift at work, she was the first one there and the last one to leave.  Thank you Danielle for all of your support, love and kindness.
Thank you to EVERYONE who contributed to make our vision a reality for us and those in need this holiday season.  We love you and appreciate you, again THANK YOU.
At the end of the day we split the remaining items up for the evening homeless drive by run and the other half we took by the Seattle Union Gospel Mission: Hope Place.  Our hearts are still full from such a great day.  Project WARM WINTER was incredible & a HUGE success.  Lots of laughs, tears and wonderful stories to tell for years and years to come.
I love the Santa hat!

GOOD NEWS

The FDA has slated December 9th for ruling on whether to approve Benlysta, the first drug treatment for lupus in over 50 years.

"The committee's 13 to 2 vote in favor of Benlysta bodes well for the first treatment designed for systemic lupus in more than 50 years as it goes to federal regulators for final consideration. The FDA does not have to follow the panel's recommendation, but often does. The agency is slated to rule by Dec. 9"
